Hampton Lakes is a quiet community of luxury villas which was
built in two main phases between 1999 and 2004. It was primarily built as a community of holiday homes for families visiting
the 'Disney Area' of central Florida. Many of the villas are owned by British families who
like to be well placed for the many attractions of the Orlando area and who rent out their homes to holidaymakers when they
are not visiting themselves. It is located just off Highway 27 (where a great many of the most popular holiday destination
villa communities are located) some 3 miles south of the well travelled Highway 192 with its many eating places and souvenir
shops which leads to the very gates of Disney itself!
Upon entering the community the streets are lined
with oak trees to give a British feel however moving further on, the communal areas and individual gardens have a more Floridian
ambience being stocked with sub-tropical plants, shrubs and palm trees. To the east, Hampton Lakes is bordered by old orange
groves from which the ‘Disney Fireworks’ can be seen and heard in the distance at night.
The community has floodlit tennis and basketball courts, a sand volleyball court and
two children’s play areas which can be used by guests whilst staying in our villa.
Just opposite the community is Westridge Plaza, a parade of shops which includes, amongst other things, a well
reputed British eatery which serves traditional British food, including breakfasts, pies, fish and chips, etc. Pizzanos pizza
is just a couple of doors along and is Merlin's traditional first night at the villa takeaway!
Less than 5 minutes drive north on Highway
27 is Berry Town Center which has a large Publix supermarket, petrol (gas) station and several other shops, restaurants and
take-aways.
A further 5 minutes drive north on Highway
27 there is a large 24hour Walmart supermarket selling a huge variety of food, clothes , toys, sporting goods ,etc.
Heading east on Highway 192 you will find a new Aldi supermarket which we find is great. The whole local
area has an abundance of restaurants and eating places including the usual American chains, pharmacies, banks, petrol (gas)
stations and shops of all kinds.
Heading
south on Highway 27 also has a vast array of shops and restaurants, either heading across to the Champions Gate shopping area
with its large supermarket, restaurants, takeaways, pharmacy and gas station or heading straight south to the intersection
with the interstate highway, I4 where there is the Posner Park shopping plaza with the J.C.Penney and Target department stores
together with an abundance of other shops and restaurants.
If golf is your game there are many courses not far from Hampton Lakes, the nearest being Highlands Reserve only
5 minutes from the villa. A 15 minute drive will take you to the award winning Greg Norman designed course at Champions Gate.
